Best Asia Pacific Business Award: Dr. Battery International Group, Richmond, B.C.
The 2010 B.C. Export Awards recognize B.C.'s Top 25 Exporters for excellence and achievements in 12 categories. Exporter of the Year, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, is the world's largest industrial auctioneer. The company sells more equipment to on-site and online bidders than any other company in the world. The company operates over 110 locations in more than 25 countries, including 39 auction sites worldwide, from its head office in Burnaby.
John Furlong captured the honorary leadership award, leading a strong Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee (VANOC) team and making outstanding contributions to British Columbia’s export industry and the promotion of the “B.C. brand” to global audiences.
Started in 1982 by the Province of British Columbia, the B.C. Export Awards are the oldest of their kind in Canada. They celebrate and recognize the valuable contributions made by the export industry, the second largest contributor to B.C.'s economy. Prior to the ceremony, Minister Margaret MacDiarmid met with the finalists of this year's B.C. Export Awards at a networking breakfast. The Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation also participated at a morning roundtable with B.C. Export Award finalists, hosted by Deputy Minister Martyn Brown, providing participants with the chance to obtain information about government programs to help exports and secure future business opportunities.
The Province of British Columbia congratulates and thanks all of this year's B.C. Export Awards winners and nominees. We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association to recognize and celebrate B.C.'s best and brightest exporters.
